In 1861 Census at Port Bruce, Malahide Township, Elgin County (Div., P. ) is List Rightman, age 29, labourer, no religion.
Lester Ryckman, 26, son of John and Mary Ryckman, married Sarah Young, 20, daughter of Rufus and Matilda Young, on October 27, 1862.
Lester Ryckman, is listed in the 1864 Port Bruce assessment rolls as a labourer, age 30 living at a place owned by Charles Lincoln. He has property assessed at $150.
In the 1871 Census, Elgin County, Ontario, Lester Ryckman is 38 years old, Church of England (Anglican), a sawyer, origin German, District 006, Sub_dist A, Div 2, Page 75.
In the "Historical Atlas, Elgin County, Ontario Illustrated" H.R. Page & Co. Toronto 1872; Ryckman L. , Dexter, 1832, Canada, is described as a hotel proprietor.
Lester Ryckman was living in Dexter, Saturday, April 11, 1874; see story "The Blacks of Sparta - Buried Alive" Talbot Times Vol. VII Issue 2 June 1988, p. 12-14.
According to the 1881 Census Ontario, District 163, Yarmouth township, Elgin county, Lester Ryckman was a Hotel Keeper (German origin). His wife Sarah Jane (Young) was of Scotch origin and a Canadian Methodist.
Lester Ryckman lived at 27 Sydenham cor King; according to "Aldrich's Pocket Directory of the town of Aylmer April 1888" p. 14.
