Retired Banker Harley Ryckman Buried Tuesday (December 28, 1953)
Harley Ryckman, a well known resident of the town for 20 years and a retired branch manager of the Royal Bank of Canada, died suddenly from a heart attack on Friday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Locock in New Toronto. Service was held here at the Hughson Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon. Reverend T. Dale-Jones officiated. Internment was made in the family plot at the Aylmer Cemetery.
Mr. Ryckman had made his home for the past three years with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Culham, Talbot Street West and had gone to Toronto to be with his daughter for the Christmas season.
Starting his banking career in Aylmer, Mr. Ryckman subsequently served at branches in Strathroy, Kingston, and Totenham. He retired to live here twenty years ago. He was a member of the Anglican Church, of the Masonic Order, a past secretary of the Aylmer Fair Board, and a former member of the Aylmer town council.
