"On Friday last death claimed another of our most highly esteemed citizens, in the person of Mrs. Asa Marr. Although for the past year or more, it has been known to herself and friends it was simply a matter of time when she should pass away, the blow when it fell, was a great shock to all except the one who was taken. To her it was a relief from long suffering, and a happy entrance into a joyous life forever, and she was anxious to go. A kind and indulgent parent, a loving wife, a true friend, and a consistent Christian, her life has been one of joy and usefulness, and she made all around her happy. Words might be added, but the above include all the virtues that we poor mortals can claim, and Mrs. Marr was in every way a most superior woman. She was attacked about three years ago with that terrible disease, cancer, and notwithstanding all medical skill, it has since then been making inroads upon a once strong and vigorous constitution. She bore up under it all with heroic courage and Christian fortitude, and no murmur of complaint escaped her lips. All that the affections of a loving husband and daughters could suggest, was done, but it could not bring back the once vigorous health and strength. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, a sorrowing husband, Mrs. Jos. Marr and Misses Hannah and Maggie at home. Her age was 56 years, 1 month and 8 days, and she was followed to her last resting place in the Aylmer cemetery on Monday by a large number of sorrowing friends."
